What If . . .

Posted on | January 9, 2011 | 8 Comments

What if you had lunch with your husband. . .

You drove him back to work . . .

He kissed your pregnant belly . . .

And that was goodbye?

What if that was the last time you looked into his eyes? Felt his fingers brush your hand? Felt his lips press against yours?  Watched him smile at your young son, love in his eyes?

What if, later, you found yourself in the woods, lights flashing, hearing friends say, “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.” ?

What if . . .

What if this wasn’t ‘What if” ?

On Tuesday, November 9, 2010, this is what happened to Veronica King. Her husband, Jeremy, kissed her goodbye, finished his work day and went hunting. He had a heart attack and died. He was 31.

??

Veronica and Jeremy

?? If you want to read Veronica’s story, and you do (with tissues, lots and lots of tissues) go here.

If you just want to help, go here. For every page load, Nikki is compensated a small amount. For the month of January  that money is going to Veronica, her two children, Faith and Caleb, and her unborn child. This Pennies on a Platter is pretty cool, donations notwithstanding. The recipes are amazing –I uhm, totally  just got lost in them. Next week? We are so eating this. Cheese and olive empanadillas? Oh, even yessir!

Why are we helping? Because she has two young children, 15 months apart. Another due on Valentine’s Day. Jeremy, her husband was the provider. Life insurance isn’t enough. And because we can. That’s what we do. We reach out and help others when they fall.

And all we have to do is click. That is all.

What else? You can go here, to Mama Still Wears Gucci. She’s donating all of her proceeds from BlogHer to Veronica this month as well. Simply by going to Gucci you are helping Veronica. You can also click on the BlogHer ad to help even more. To help even more, click on ‘The Big Deal on BlogHer’ and register. (I just did. It took less than one minute. I timed it!) That generates money for Gucci Mama. She is giving that money to Veronica. (as an aside, if you haven’t visited Gucci Mama? Do it now. She is a rock star. Madonna? Lady Gaga? JLo? Angelina?  Nothing on Gucci.)

Veronica, Caleb and Faith
What else? You can donate directly to Veronica. A PayPal account has been created for this purpose.
Please make some donations
You can also send a check directly to Veronica, if this suits you better. Address them to:
Veronica King
300 W. Princeton
Pontiac MI 48340

And one more big thing. Pray. Add Veronica and her babies to your prayers. Lift them up.

Thanks to you and Gucci Mama! I'm so very humbled as I know Vee is as well. Thanks for reminding everyone to pray on top of participating in this effort to raise money. Prayer is even more powerful. :) You rock!
